Live performances from The Countrymen came to an abrupt halt in August 2023 when lead vocalist and banter-man, Steve Gilbert contracted double-pneumonia. Knowing that it would be at least several months before he would be fit enough to sing again, fellow lead vocalist Steve Cooksey took the opportunity to have a knee operation in late November which went well although still a little sore. Not be left out, bass player and vocalist, Simon Wrench picked up a wrist injury in a football match but is now recovered.
Now, six months on, they will be returning to the stage at the end of January with a few local pub gigs followed by their “Springtime Concert Tour” throughout Cornwall. Details are currently available on the Facebook Events Page, but will soon be on the website Gig Page.
