Launceston-based Cornish folk rock harmony band, The Countrymen, are already looking forward to a debut road-trip to Appingedam in The Netherlands for a major folk and seassong festival in August. But if that wasn’t exciting enough, they have now been invited to perform at Mineral Point Opera House in Wisconsin, U.S.A. at the end of September.
It will be part of The Southwest Wisconsin Cornish Society‘s 30th Annual Cornish Festival and will draw members of the Cornish diaspora from all over the United States. The flights to Chicago are all booked and to say the guys are properly stoked about it, is an understatement!
The band have just completed a string of well-supported concert dates around the county with the closing night of the tour this Friday at Wadebridge. They’re really looking forward to The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival in June, always a favourite. But the forthcoming gigs in Europe and the U.S.A. are going to forge some very special memories.
