The Countrymen have made another significant donation to local charity The Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund and decided to mark the occasion by arranging a fundraising performance at their local (HQ), The Countryman Inn at Langdon Cross. This was done on the Friday between Christmas and the New Year but some of the band members were concerned that there would not be a good turnout in this ‘crimbo limbo’ period. “We were completely overwhelmed by the number of people who came to see both us and the fabulous Shed Singers” said Steve Gilbert from The Countrymen. ” Not only did we have the ideal opportunity to handover a cheque for £3000.00 but we also raised a further £176.77 in donations on the night. It was a great way to end what has been a very successful year for us”.
